Mateo – I bought a newspaper at the Mexico City airport on June 16, 2022. It was a black hardcover journal with wrestler masks printed all over it. At the bottom of the journal, it read, By Mexico, in white letters. Considering my fascination with Lucha Libre, Papi Martin insisted that I buy it.
This was the day after your dad and I signed the contract that would begin this surrogacy journey. It was a moment of fear, excitement and total confusion.
I've always been obsessed with wrestlers. To me, they represent more than cultural entertainment. It's a bond between your uncles (Pepito & Alonzo) and me. We grew up watching wrestling, in fact, we had a collection of masks in our drawers and we pretended to fight at home, it was something that the three of us loved. Daddy Martín… not so much. On one of our first trips to Mexico City, we went to a wrestler's fight. He wasn't impressed.
Wrestlers are fighters, entertainers and actors. More importantly, its characters who have a story of passion and courage.
It was a coincidence that we obtained this diary at the same time that we agreed to have you, I think so. After years of talking about this, everything was finally falling into place. So I decided that this journal would carry the story that led us to you, our baby. Here, we will try to share, in detail, what is happening, why it is happening, and what it means for us. All in the hope that one day this will serve as an insight into our thoughts and feelings as we made this dream of completing our family a reality.
Daddy Martín and I also have courage. We were determined to fight to make sure this dream became a reality. In our story, we are the fighters… and one day, you will be too.
